Toner Pirates - BEWARE!!

"Toner pirates" typically telephone small businesses and other offices and use deception to induce victims into switching their copy machine toner supply orders to the scam artists -- at exorbitant prices. Toner is the dry powder ink used in most copy machines.

In the event your supplies are not covered in your maintenance contract or you do not have a contract with MTC yet, there are some very simple ways to protect you from becoming a victim of these fraudulent telemarketers.

MS Certifications

Updating Your Network

The single most important thing you can do as a computer user is visit Microsoft Update a couple of times a month.  New security patches are released frequently, so it is not only the smart thing to do, it's the responsible thing to do.  As a member of the Internet community, it is your responsibility to make sure your PC is immune to exploits and vulnerabilities that can turn your computer into a zombie machine that propagates SPAM and viruses. Setup automated updates so your system will download critical files and install them when necessary.

You can visit the Microsoft Update site or call MTC to take care of the updates for you.
MTC can also minimize disruptions to the work environment by remotely resolving issues using a secure VPN system.  Our certified engineers & technicians will help you with your LAN/WAN design & implementation of Windows, Outlook, Exchange,  Microsoft Server 2008,  Remote Users and VPN Custom Programming.

Did you know that MTC was one of the first ones to be involved in the Microsoft RDP program? Yes, we've trained and installed Windows Server 2008 at our customer's site before the launch date in February 2008!

Read about it in Microsoft's case study:

Economic Stimulus Act Of 2008

The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 contains two provisions that provide tax benefits for businesses.
The first provision increases the limit up to which a business can expense property purchased and placed in service during its 2008 tax year.
The second provision provides an additional 50 percent special depreciation allowance for property acquired and placed in service during calendar year 2008.

Unlike the economic stimulus payments that millions of individuals have already received, the tax benefits for businesses are not automatic; businesses must act to take advantage of the new provisions by purchasing qualifying property.

The Joint Committee on Taxation estimates that businesses stand to lower their 2008 tax bills by roughly $45 billion as a result of the two business provisions in the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008; these provisions accelerate into 2008 the tax benefits that otherwise would not have been available until future years.

With MTC and Microsoft Financing you can invest in your IT business, without great financial strain, and get done what needs to get done today!
True Cost of Printing

The price tag on any given printer really tells only half the story. Many times the cheapest printer for sale isn't necessarily the cheapest printer to own. And what's the most affordable printer for you in particular?
Depending on how many pages you print and how much it costs to print each page, a high-priced printer with expensive cartridges could be a lot cheaper to own in the long run than a less-expensive printer with low-cost cartridges.
Coming up with that long-run cost for comparison is exactly what our specialists at MTC can do for you! Make sure to check with us to see how we can save you money in the long run!

MTC & Microsoft:
Adding the
IW Competency

MTC has formally achieved its Microsoft Information Worker (IW) competency earlier this year. We already earned the Networking Infrastructure Solutions Competency and have been a Small Business Specialist for several years.

The Microsoft competency certification defines an area of specialization and illustrates MTC's proven ability for implementing the specific Microsoft solution.
This provides our customers with the assurance of MTC's ability to provide quality services.
To be recognized as Microsoft certified in a specific competency, partners must meet a series of requirements including a number of successful implementations of the IW solution as well as a specified number of certified employees.

Brett Littrell, President at MTC: "The investment made in terms of training and certification in this key Microsoft solution set shows yet again our commitment to provide our customers with the best business technology solutions, and we meet their product and servicing needs completely."

The Microsoft IW solution set centers on addressing key customer challenges by helping you develop solutions and deploy services based on the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

Tech Tips:

Printer Service:
If you can't print from any application, check to see if the printer is paused. Click Start and Control Panel, and then double-click Printers & Faxes. Right-click your printer and see if Pause Printing is selected. If it is, click Pause Printing again to resume printing. If the printer is not paused, try to print a test page to verify that communication from the PC to the printer is good: Right-click the printer, select Properties, and then choose the Print Test Page button on the General tab. Some printers may have a Test Page button located right on the printer, which makes it easier to print a test page

PC:
Vista tip: Needing the 'Run' command in Vista? = click logo, Press the left 'Windows' logo key and the letter 'R'

Networking:

If regular pop-ups occur about Antivirus, you should notify your network administrator immediately.
